Here is  square #12 from the Sensational Sampler, a free crochet baby blanket.Just use an H hook and block to 8″. Add a dc border around it to make it 9″. Square #12:

With Color C, ch 3.

Rnd. 1: In 3rd ch from hook, work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 2, in same st work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 2, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. Pull beg tail to close middle hole.

Rnd 2: Sl st into next ch-2 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) ch 1, *in next ch-2 sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) ch 1, repeat from * twice more, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rnd. 3: Sl st into next ch-2 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) ch 1, *in ea ch-1 sp work 3 dc, ch 1, in corner ch-2 sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) ch 1, repeat from * 2 times, in next ch-2 sp work 3 dc, ch 1, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rnd. 4: Repeat Rnd. 3.

Rnd. 5: Repeat Rnd. 3.

Rnd. 6: Sl st to corner, in corner work (ch 1, 3 sc), *sc in next 3 sts, sc in ch-1 sp, repeat from * 3 times, sc in next 3 sts, in corner work (3 sc), repeat around square, join with sl st to beg sc. Fasten off. (19 sc on each side and 3 in each corner).

Rnd. 7: In BLO, join Color B to middle st of any corner, (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), *1 dc in each of next 21 sts, in middle st of corner work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc), repeat from * 2 times, 1 dc in each of next 13 sts, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. Fasten off, weave in ends, block. (25 dc on each side)
