Here’s Square #4 for the Sensational Sampler, a free crochet baby blanket. This is an 8″ square when blocked. I then dc an Ecru border around it to reach 9″ when done. Use a size H hook and Red Heart Super Saver yarn in your choice of colors (or any worsted weight yarn).

With C ch 30.

Row 1 (RS): Work 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into next ch, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 sc into each of next 3 ch; rep from * to end omitting 1 sc at end of last rep, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, (count as 1 dc), skip first sc, work 1 dc into next sc, *ch 1, skip ch-1, 1 dc into each of next 3 sc; rep from * to end omitting 1 dc at end of last rep, turn.

Row 3: With D, ch 1, work 1 sc into each of first 2 dc, 1 tr into first skipped starting ch, *1 sc into next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc into next dc, 1 tr into next skipped starting ch; rep from * to last 2 dc, 1 sc into next dc, 1 sc into 3rd of ch-3 at beg of previous row, turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, skip first sc, work 1 dc into each of next 3 sts, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc into each of next 3 sts; rep from * to last sc, 1 dc into last sc, turn.

Row 5: With B, ch 1, work 1 sc into each of first 2 dc, *ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc into next dc, 1 tr into next skipped dc 3 rows below, 1 sc into next dc; rep from * to last 3 dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc into next dc, 1 sc into 3rd of ch-3 at beg of previous row, turn.

Row 6: Ch 3, skip first sc, 1 dc into next sc, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc into each of next 3 sts; rep from * to end omitting 1 dc at end of last rep, turn.

Row 7: With C, ch 1, 1 sc into each of first 2 dc, 1 tr into next skipped dc 3 rows below, *1 sc into next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 sc into next dc, 1 tr into next skipped dc 3 rows below; rep from * to last 2 dc, 1 sc into each of last 2 dc, turn.

Row 8: As Row 4 but using C instead of D.

Rows 9 – 12: Repeat Rows 5 – 8 once more.

Rows 13 – 14: Repeat Rows 5 and 6 once more.

Row 15: With C, ch 1, work 1 sc into each st to end. Finish off, weave in ends, block.
