Here is our final dishcloth pattern for the Spring Cleaning Dishcloth CAL 2018!
Aptly named – as we will double up on the double crochet stitches. This design makes nice, clean lines and works up quickly. I made mine in one solid color, but multi-colors and variegated colors would look great also.
MATERIALS & GUIDELINES
ANY WORSTED WEIGHT COTTON
I USED HOBBY LOBBY CRAFTER’S SECRET
A: ROSE QUARTZ 16
B: MANGO 58
CROCHET HOOK SIZE I / 5.5 mm
TAPESTRY NEEDLE
SIZE AFTER BLOCKING:
10” X 10”
ABBREVIATIONS:
Beg = beginning
Begdc = beginning double crochet
Ch/s = chain/s
Dc= double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Hk = hook
Rep = repeat
RS = right side
Sc = single crochet
Sk = skip/skipped
Sl St = slip stitch
Sp/s = space/s
St/s = stitch/es
WS = wrong side
The Begdc can be replaced with 3 chains.
Tutorial for Begdc: NO MORE TURNING CHAINS!
NOTE: There is no RS/WS to fabric. The finished cloth is reversible.
INSTRUCTIONS
Row 1: With A ch 27, working in back bumps of chs, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch to end, turn. (26 sc)
Row 2: Begdc in first st, sk next st, [(2 dc in next st) twice, sk next 2 sts] to last 2 sts, sk next st, dc in last st, turn. (26 dc)
Row 3 – 14: Rep Row 2. After Row 14, ch 1, turn. Do not finish off, continue to Border.
BORDER
Rnd. 1: (Sc, hdc, sc) in same st, sc in next 24 dc, (sc, hdc, sc) in last dc of row.
Rotate cloth to work on vertical side, work 24 sc evenly across this side.
Rotate cloth to work on bottom of Row 1, (sc, hdc, sc) in first ch, sc in next 24 chs, (sc, hdc, sc) in last ch of foundation chs.
Rotate cloth to work on vertical side, work 24 sc evenly across this side, join with sl st to beg sc. Finish off.
Rnd. 2: Join B with sl st to any side st, ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc in same st, work 1 hdc in each sc around and 3 hdc in each corner hdc, join with sl st to beg hdc. Finish off.
Weave in all ends.
