Week 4 – Righthand

Week 4 – Lefthand

Art Deco Afghan on Ravelry – $2.50

How are we coming along with our afghans? This week marks our halfway point in the CAL, and I’ve seen so many lovely color combos thus far. From yarn kits to stash – they are all so beautiful‼!  Your work of art is progressing nicely.

This week, we will create a background to display that pretty little motif you’ve been saving from last week. For this section, the Grid, we’ll be changing colors in mid row, and carrying colors along the row and up the side. But don’t worry – the pattern gives clear written instructions on these techniques. Need a visual? Check out Tania’s excellent videos – links are listed above – as she guides you step by step through the process.

We’ll also be working a couple of decorative bands to enhance this section. I really love this particular stitch pattern, and have incorporated it in several other of my designs. Here’s a little hint – you will be seeing this stitch again, later on in this CAL. But, shhhhh!  You didn’t hear that from me. 😊

What inspired this Grid section? I really liked the bold, clean lines of these Art Deco prints, but didn’t want them to overpower the design. So I decided to frame the Motif on either side for a really cool deco look.

IMPORTANT NOTE:Please notice that when making the Decorative Band, the Seattle colorway will substitute colors here.
